Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 2, 2022
Published: Aug. 3, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
JT extends 7x8,550,000 (JT keeps doing JT things)
Bo extends 8x7,500,000 (60m but if he scores 30+ goals again it would probably be higher)
Foote extends 1x1,500,000 (bridge)
Schenn extends 2x1,500,000
Kuzmenko extends 2x4,000,000 (Guessing a decent year if paired with good line mates)
*The three above can be moved around $ wise
Barre-Boulet 758,333/7th Dman ~ $800,000
Poolman is bottom pair if healthy.
Cap increases $1m

The following year Wennberg and Pearson contracts expire to extend Petey (Point $), Pod, Foote, Rathbone, backup goalie (Silovs?).

Likely have to move out a player like Garland (sign Lekkerimaki ELC and Karlsson for 3C?) to make it all work. Garland would certainly draw great offers with draft capital coming back with that being the Canucks main focus for return. $1m cap increase again in flat cap world.

Trades:
Hoglander and Foote swap. Perbix makes the leap along with Bogosian to play RHD. Keeper fills AHL spot in TB. Barre-Boulet for the cap.

Toronto deals takes nearly 1m off their cap hit. While also acquiring a third and a goalie prospect. Canucks gain cap flexibility and a RHD to compete with Poolman (assuming he is healthy).

Seattle gets a RHD (couldn't land Klingberg) and Kerfoot steps into Wenmberg's role or plays wing to McCann/Gourde. Vancouver adds a 3C and further cap space (JT Miller extension ~60m).

Nice work on a more realistic offseason. I'm not convinced that Foote will be worth acquiring at the expense of Hoglander, but if we wait to find out his value will increase and we won't be able to get him. It's a worthwhile gamble given our surplus of wingers and need for RHD.

I don't think Toronto does that deal, they already moved Dermott this season. It could probably be reworked to make sense though. Pearson would make sense if the cap can be figured out.

Not sure what Seattle is trying to do.

Similar feelings about Foote. He at least has NHL experience, played on a winner and great size and skates well. Worth the move with the glut of forwards as you mentioned.

Dermott could be moved again for an even lesser cap hit or pick (and more space for TO). That wouldn't be the last move for them.

I think Francis is trying and Brockheimer wants a more exciting product on the ice.
