Sharks aren't trying to win now so I don't see them doing this

I wouldn’t trade Eklund for Bertuzzi if he came with an extension 1 for 1. Hell no. He’s a rental.

Of course, the Sharks are trying to win now. They shouldn't be but they are. They should be tearing that team down and trying to accumulate high draft picks.

I don't know what they're smoking in Detroit, but it must be pretty potent if you think San Jose is trading Elkund

We don't, OP is either trolling, or really out there

Except for the Ottawa trade, these trades favor Detroit and neither Cirelli or Eklund are getting traded.

They say they want to compete, nobody has said their goal is to win. If they were trying to win they wouldn’t trade a 50 point defenseman for nothing or literally say in multiple press conferences that they may take a step back to move forward.

you see the Hidden message! sharks plan (my thoughts anyways) to make sure the prospects are 100% NHL ready and be overly patient with them, have a team that plays well and competes hard…. but doesn’t win many games. showcase guys like Lorentz Nieto Bonino Lindblom Kunin Barabanov Simek Nutivarra Reimer and trade some of those pieces for draft capitol at the deadline and the guys who could be part of our future stay, then finish the season with the younger guys and get a top 5 pick and set ourselves up for a nice rebound season in 23/24.

Sharks laugh at this and block Yzerman for good. Eklund is going nowhere unless the return is overwhelmingly in SJ's favor and Bertuzzi ain't that.

If the Sharks we're trying to win now would they have traded Burns and signed a bunch a bottom six forwards? That is not a recipe for competing today.
