Yeah, Canes pass. You're looking at likely needing to add Dube + some more futures, or you're looking at scrapping this whole idea and starting with a base of Necas for Mangiapane. You can add there as needed, but I come back to the point that I don't think this works for Carolina

Canes wouldn't do that. Maybe if it was Dube or Kylington as the main piece but not Valimaki. If Necas was willing to sign that he would be under contract already

Without Calgary adding a lot, I don't see this working as a base either. If you want Necas+, I think it has to be Mangiapane. Kylington is a fine D man, but Carolina already have a logjam back there. Necas isn't being traded for someone who would be their 3LD. Yes, he would be their 3LD. Just because he can be a top 4 D doesn't mean he is on every team he ends up on. Dube is the same. In Raleigh, he'd be doing well to get 3rd line time. Necas is likely going to get a chance to fight for the 2C spot with Kotkaniemi. I just don't see a way where anything but a clear roster improvement tempts the Canes into dealing Necas

I mean, they could always go for the offer sheet alternative, but they would just be shooting themselves in the foot later down the line, as we all know what will eventually happen if Necas were to take an offer sheet.

But I do agree, if Necas gets traded to the Flames it’s likely to be for Mangiapane.
