Islanders decline. That’s not nearly enough for Barzal. Asking for Beauvillier, Bellows, Holmstrom and a third along with that package is ridiculous.

Because they are just fine, they will keep all those pieces and continue rebuilding the right way

Outside of Barzal and Beauvillier, Detroit doesn't have any interest in the rest. And they're not surrendering players like Wallinder who's going to be solid on their blueline for years to come.

You would have to move all of them and more for Barzal lmao

And that's all the more reason why this would never happen, Yzerman isn't giving up massive pieces for Barzal. Like i said neither team makes this trade.

I only disagree cause there isn’t a single player in that deal who is or will be as good as Barzal.

I mean I have to think Yzerman would trade for a first line center if he was moving Pennies on the dollar

Pennies on the dollar sure, But we all know that Lou wont sell Barzal for pennies on the dollar. Detroit is better off to keep building up their prospect pipeline. Draft young talent.

I agree in principle. Trading the 2025 pick is weird for sure. But I have to think Detroit would’ve traded the Marco Kasper pick for Barzal so idk.

Relax my man. Guy had 15 goals last year. Enjoy paying him $9m a year for that. Wings are good.

His most consistent winger last year was Zack Parise

Cool. He’s obviously a great player but putting up those kind of numbers under any circumstances isn’t what a superstar player does and def doesn’t warrant more than a player like Tyler Bertuzzi and all of those starting NHL players.

Are you implying Bertuzzi is better?

No. Two completely different players but, their value isn’t far off as you think. If Barzal was a winger, this isn’t even a conversation.

That statement makes very little sense imo. You can’t ignore the fact Barzal is a center or that his role is completely different than Bertuzzi. You also have to factor in contract status lol.

It makes a ton of sense. An enormous factor in Barzal’s value is his position. I’m not disputing the fact that his value is higher than Bertuzzi’s but if both players were centers, there wouldn’t be a conversation about adding to Bertuzzi to get Barzal.

Barzal is worth more than Bertuzzi. But after a 15 goal season, his value is derived from his position and his potential to be the player we’ve seen at times and he can be.

It’d be dumb to trade Barzal after the year he had with his value at the lowest its ever been. He won’t be traded anyways so, it really doesn’t matter.

No I’m saying you can’t say “if Barzal wasn’t a center” because you can’t really take out positional value. And you can’t really ignore how a guy is used anyway.
