I still believe we will end up packaging Kapanen and POJ for an upgrade forward

Detroit passes.

Teddy Blueger is the same age as Tyler Bertuzzi but less productive.

Samuel Poulin is a LW that Detroit already has an overabundance of.

A 2023 late 1st and 2nd round pick, Detroit can do better with more quality than this.

Pittsburgh gets a player for their 1st line and Detroit gets a couple of bottom 6 forwards and a 1st and a 2nd but Pittsburgh is a playoff team so those picks really aren't all that good, I agree the value just isn't there.

100%. Throw Kapanen in instead of Bluegger, add a 1st round unprotected 1st in 2025. Yzerman can flip the 2023 1st with Berggren to replace Bertuzzi with a younger option with proven abilities. Who that is, I dont know, but Vrana was on nobody's radar and that deal worked for both teams.

Bertuzzi isn’t worth the cost of acquisition and certainly isn’t worth what these idiots think he is. Just sign him for free next season.

I'm not very high on Kapanen at all. He has played on 2 of the best offenses in the league yet his production has been average at best.

If the vax issue were not there, Bertuzzi is the exact type of player everyone covets for a playoff run. He plays a complete game and is good for 30 goals and 60 to 70 points. He makes his linemates better, and has the ability to play a grinder game or a skill game. There are few players in the league like him.

Yeah, but he still has shown signs of talent being there. Pittsburgh needs to dump salary to bring Bertuzzi and Blueger is a known quantity. Detroit gets to take a flyer on Kapanen, like they did with Fabbri. The 2025 1st has potential to be a high pick given the age of the top half of the roster.

I love Bertuzzi and prefer to keep him on the Wings, but he certainly would need a team friendly deal around 6.5 for 4 or 5 years. Anything north of 7 is a risk, given injury history, vax status, and the type of game he plays.

Sure be cause he has stated repeatedly that he wants to go to Puttsburgh. Oh wait he has not so, good luck getting older and farther behind.

I love he is not worth that but he we will sign him next year and he will be a star.

Funny he has repeatedly stated he wants to resign here. We ha e the cap space and you Pens do not.

Nobody said anything about him wanting to sign in “Puttsburgh.” Him not saying anything about wanting to sign in Pittsburgh or anywhere for that matter a year before he is a FA means nothing. You are just talking out of your a$$, attempting to put words in other peoples mouth, and weakening your already nonexistent credibility.

What did you expect him to say??? “No way I want to resign in Detroit. This team has been irrelevant for a decade+. Why would I want to sign here.” Of course he will say the right stuff. He isn’t an idiot. You should take notes. The pens get Dumo and Zuck off the books plus a likely cap increase next year. They will have plenty of space to pull it off, but I’m sure they appreciate your concern. I shouldn’t have to spoon feed you this information. You are obviously new to this whole “hockey” thing. Welcome to hockey!

1st off the Sqm918 stated in his post we can just sign him next year. Almost like Pens management can do whatever they want so I did not make up anything.

2nd yes Wings have been in a rebuild so yes they have not been relevant for 10 years, but what has Pens done in those years? They have not won a cup , yes they have been in the playoffs, great but signing older players to contract only prolongs the inevidentable that the Pens will become less and less a cup contender.

As far as cap Pens have 20 million in cap next year, with T. Smith and T. Jarry to resign.at the least that will cost 6 million for both.and if you let Dumo then Pens lose their top LHD. Signing Bertuzzi will cost 6 to 7 million. That leaves Pens only 7 to 8 million to sign a replacement for Dumo and flesh out the rest of roster

And thanks but I know enough about the hockey "thing" but hey thanks.for your opinion.
