This is only if he does not re sign with dallas which is starting to look like a possibility. If this does happen, Dallas with have to pursue another goalie

He'd be a great add in BUF, but I think DAL needs to get a haul for him. This kid is the real deal, and he's only an RFA (without arb rights), so they have the power. BUF can afford to pay a much higher price, and a top end goalie is a great way to come out of a rebuild.

Well this is a quick no from Dallas. 23-year old goalies that are borderline elite go for A LOT more than a goalie prospect, a couple of mid 2nds and a 3rd. If Buffalo wants to make a run at Oettinger, the package better include one/multiple of Krebs, Quinn, Cozens, Savoie, or a 2023 1st Round Pick.

Oettinger isn't going anywhere. Contract negotiations may have been at a deadlock, but there is still no shot that he gets traded. Dallas holds all the leverage. They may compromise a little bit in order to get a deal done, but Dallas holds his rights. It's not like Oettinger can just not sign and then go play elsewhere. The only way he doesn't stay in Dallas is if a team offers up a ludicrous offer sheet that Dallas would be stupid to match. Outside of that, Oettinger will be playing in a Dallas sweater come the fall; even if negotiations carry into training camp/preseason.

I would go easy with him though. You don’t want to make him request a trade out of there or then dallas will have to target another goalie
