Devils trade should be one for one, especially if Severson's extension is prerequisite to the deal

It's if Barzal says he'll only play in VAN. A more realistic trade is 2 of: A top 4 D, A first round pick, or a top prospect

laugh Sorry but it takes far more then just J. T. Miller to get Matthew Barzal.

Absolutely, but this is assuming Barzal demands a trade to Vancouver where the Islanders would have no leverage

He could literally walk as a ufa though. All he has to do is take a 1-2 year deal or accept his $7 mil qualifying offer and literally could walk out the door. What’s he got 1-2 years of RFA status left after this current deal.

Matt Barzal is still a 2 year RFA, So he doesn't make the calls. If Lou were to move him it would be for the best package available. And sorry that's not coming from Vancouver.

Agreed it’s not coming from Vancouver. I do think it’s weird that Canucks fans alternate between saying he’s not as good as JT Miller and saying they should trade Miller for him lmao

To be fair, he is younger so that would be why

JT Miller is better in the regular season with better forwards around him. Barzal took a first line with marquee names like Anders Lee, Jordan Eberle and Leo Komarov to the ECF. Two of those guys r second liners and one of them doesn’t even deserve to be in the KHL.

To be fair Miller usually played with bad players as well. His most common linemate (Pearson) is a middle six forward and his other common linemates were Chaisson and Hoglander. Chaisson being a PP specialist and Hoglander being at best a third liner. He also did produce well in the playoffs when the Canucks went there

Edit: In the playoffs he did play with Pettersson and Boeser though tbf

He didn’t play at all with Garland or Boeser last year? And what about the Power Play time he has?

Barzal was a PPG player his rookie year and didn’t win ****. His numbers went down but he was winning a **** ton. When Barry failed to help his stats or help the team win Barzal wanted him gone.

He played with Boeser a lot (that's on me, I didn't see that) but nearly never played with Garland. Boeser also didn't play like a first liner this year. Also, did Barzal not get PP time?

He did but he gets it with inferior talent. Isles didn’t really have any other power play weapons besides him until Dobson broke out this year.

Was Chiasson even on Vancouver? Also sometimes when ur playing from behind guys get moved around. Idk how Vancouver operated last year. I only saw a couple Vancouver games and one of them was against the isles. They lost 6-3 and Ross Johnston was on the second line.

For most of the year, Miller was (along with Hughes) running the PP. Pettersson had a taped wrist for near half the year.
I think it would be rediculous for the Islanders to make this trade unless he demands it though

Chaisson was on VAN. Under Green the lines rotated a ton but under Boudreau they rotated much less

Either way power play time and late in games guys get more leeway. Also I didn’t even realize Chiasson did anything last year. I thought he was either hurt or not producing at all.
