Over Pay for 1 yr of Kadri

Created by: JamCam
Team: 2022-23 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 7, 2022
Published: Aug. 7, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I don't see Kadri signing with CGY this year, but we can dream. Do something similar to what Buffalo did for Hall a few years back - overpay for one year. See if its a fit - possible re-sign next year if it works out.

Reportedly Nazem Kadri is already seeking between $8,000,000 to $9,000,000 per long term, So the odds of him taking a 1 x $8,000,000 deal to sign with Calgary is pretty low.

All reports say he’s asking for 9+ with term. So….

Dude is too old to do this move unless his market is really dry...

Like good on him for trying to get paid... But he isn't worth that. He just had a career year so he should try to cash in... But I think he signs for high 7s for 5. Maybe he gets 8+ but I think he only signs for 4 years that high.

Anaheim declines, Monahan is a cap dump and we don't want Juuso. Monahan + Cal 2023 2nd for
FC.

He’s not worth more than 6.5. Anyone goes what he’s asking or close to it will regret it.

Ehh the going rate for a Ufa c is really high. He's coming off an 87 point season. I'm aware that's after 3 years of about 50 point paces, but teams can be short sighted. the pay for a guy who can play top 6 c well in UFA is usually quite high. Look what Hertl and Hayes and the like make.

He's a 1b center who is good defensively. The big thing is how quick he declines.

In today's market I think he would get 7.5-8 easily with full term if he were 28

I'd be shocked if he gets anything more than 5 x $7 mil honestly and that's probably comes from the islanders or possibly the AVs.

My guess is 7-7.6 for 5 years or 8-8.5 for 4

Ya but he’s not 28. He had 12 years of steady .6ppg production then suddenly 1.23 at age 31. I’ll pay him as .6 and expect a decline from that by year 3.
