You're not gonna have to pay to dump Johnsson, he'd get claimed on waivers. As for the big trade, that's just too much to give up.

maybe, don’t get me wrong he’s not “overpaid” but teams are very cap conscious and he might not be plucked off waivers because of that.

It would be a team like Arizona. I'd be willing to bet the reason he's not already a Coyote is because they're on his NTC

We all have our opinions, you can think that's fair, but I'd much rather have someone Scott Wheeler ranked as the #4 prospect in the NHL in a rare spot of RHD and a 1st in a very deep draft than look at this as if Pasta is the ONLY player out there that can make us better.

Holtz just had a point-per-game season in his age 19 season (joining the likes of Mikko Rantanen, Patrick Elias, William Nylander, Patrice Bergeron). Has three more years of his ELC remaining.

Nemec is a very high ceiling dman who has 3+ years of ELC. Other than Luke Hughes, I don’t know if there is a better defensive prospect outside the NHL right now. Any other rebuilding team would center their rebuild around this guy.

The 1st is in a deep draft, and we are likely to finish in one of the worst possible spots to trade a pick (10-16…too early to gamble with, too late to protect).

Magic beans. Sheesh.

As for Pastrnak.
Wait one year. Sign him as UFA.
Wingers are available every year.
Good ones, every year.

All unproven in the NHL, could be nothing. Or underwhelming NHLers.

If Pastrnak hits UFA he is not signing in NJ. "Good wingers available every year" yeah and we don't get any of them. Remember when we were going to get Gaudreau? Good times.

I don’t think we put full press on Gaudreau. If you listened to his press conference, it almost sounded like Fitzy ghosted him. My guess is we were just trying to price out Philly and NYI.

Palat signed here.

Devils shouldn’t have much of a problem scoring goals. I would be more interested in locking down #1 goalie.
