I don’t see Chicago doing this without one of our top three forward prospects. Guri may or may not fit what they’re looking for. Kane would be amazing but I don’t think we’d like the price tag. I could be wrong

A first, second, prospect, roster player should be enough for a UFA. CHI doesn't have a lot of negotiating power here seeing as Kane won't re-sign.

I'm banking on the fact that a team that would take the #7 pick for DeBrincat would probably not properly value Kane. Of the "big 3" I would part with Bourque. I also think the Kane market is extremely limited. Most teams have spent their money this offseason and aren't in a position to get him and make it work. Stars have the ability to bridge deal Robertson and dump either Faksa or Dobby to make it work. Only realistic teams I can see being in it would be Rangers, Canes, Stars and Avs. Stars easily have the best mix of prospects and premium picks to make it work.

The Cat trade was bad. Doesn’t mean you can count on them for not getting max value in other trades. I’m not a fan of Chicago’s GM. Seems like he thinks he’s smarter than everybody else and seems prone to tunnel vision when it comes to players. That’s just outside looking in

The Cat trade was a direct response. Kaner said he wanted to stick around if Debrincat stayed. He said that publicly. Kyle Davidson said this was a complete rebuild. Can't tank if Kaner stays and he stays if The Cat stayed. KD got the best offer out there considering he forced himself in to trading the Cat.

I’m familiar with the situation. I just can’t talk myself into believing that was the best offer. Maybe the lowest first round pick, but I have to believe there was more value elsewhere

I hear ya. I would have liked to see more value coming to the hawks too.

CHI won't even have to negotiate because, if Kane asks for a trade, there will be a bidding war, the offers will do the negotiating for us.
