The premise here is that Islanders might need to clear cap.

Agree with you on Toronto's negative, but Anaheim is getting Sandin and Beauvillier in exchange for Jones and Groulx, so that's a Yes from the Ducks. As to Kerfoot with 50% retention, that saves the Islanders $2.4 million in cap space, which they might want to use to sign Nazem Kadri.

Brutal trade for the leafs. If this is the best offer may as well let Sandin get offer sheeted for a 2nd and trade Kerfoot for something else. Or simply don’t trade them

I literally did the money if 7x7 is right for kadri. It works.

Well they have to trade someone without signing Sandin. Trading both fixes the cap problem. Kerfoot would get minute positive value so getting Jones for him is more than most think he’d get in return. Sandin is worth a 2nd so BOG and a 3rd coupled with Jones being worth more than Kerfoot would get right now isn’t that far off.

Cap for Kadri. A solid 1 year replacement for Beau at a very low cap hit. Makes a lot of sense. Plus they get a 7th D at league minimum who plays both sides and could be insurance to Salo/Aho or whoever is 3LD.
