Dallas has zero reason to do that and the return is not enough, especially with retention.

Its a great fit for the Avs but it doesnt make sense for Dallas to trade him to a division rival, especially if you arent even giving up any valuable assets

Oh, I agree, this is more of a trade deadline type deal if the Stars are having a mediocre-bad season. I think Avs are fine until playoffs having a platoon at the 2C position but come playoffs our smaller 2C's will get pushed around.

I think Ranta has a chance to be a top nine to top six player next year, he is still a little underdeveloped at this point for sure though. The trade can be tweaked for sure, it's more just the idea behind the trade I was going for.

Yeah, Pavs would be great to have but Dallas would want a lot, probably a 1st rather than mediocre prospects and low picks. Might be worth it but this draft is looking really good, even at the end of the first round.
