I would say at least take off the protection to start. The slim chance they do win one of those picks at least they get something worth while

Ducks would never offer one of them, let alone two. The point is to build for the future, not mortgage it.

And I'd rather keep the picks. Robertson is a stud, but we have a most likely top 10 pick thie year, probably a top 15 next year. Teams who trade multiple firsts are using 25+ OA picks, not 10th.

Dallas also wants to win now, so it doesn't track that they would trade him, for any amount.

Maybe if ANA offers something like Lundestrom, Zellweger and then 2 1sts, they could accept but this package isn’t enough as is

They wouldn't bother asking for Zegras because there's no chance. They would ask for Drysdale even if it is a slim chance or McTavish who may be their true target, so they ask for less with him in it if that's the case. If Dallas is initiating the trade discussion, they would only ask for one of Drysdale or McTavish, not both since they will be looking to make a deal.

So they might offer Robertson for something like:
McTavish/Drysdale+ Comtois + 2023 1st (unprotected) + 2024 conditional 2nd (upgrades to a first if Anaheim makes it to the playoffs in 2023).

If Anaheim was calling and Dallas wasn't interested, then they would ask for McTavish+Drysdale+ 2023 1st unprotected + 2024 1st

As much as I love watching Robertson play and would watch in awe what he could do with Terry and Z, the cost to acquire him would make no sense for the Ducks to pay. What the Ducks would be willing to part with probably gets the phone hung up on them by Dallas.

If we were going to buy on Robertson, we needed to do it before ho popped off this season. Now he, Heiskanen, and Otter are Dallas new core, and you don't move those pieces for any cost unless you physically can't keep them.

But, we can still get a Robertson. His younger brother is in the leafs farm system, likely to crack the roster soon. We take Muzzin and maybe Robertson is the payment.

ANA probably wouldn't be the ones approaching them unless there was some indication that Robertson is available or could be (like he's holding out). GibbywithGibby's post below captures the "why" behind Anaheim likely not being the team to initiate talks in addition to the fact that Anaheim isn't in the stage where they need to rush or feel like it's time to exit the rebuild.

I think it's more likely that Nick Robertson ends up in Anaheim if he's unable to crack the Leafs lineup but he's still too good for the AHL, and Anaheim has a player that the Leafs want. Perhaps, Muzzin would also be involved but the Leafs probably aren't going to look to just cap dump Muzzin if that's what you meant. They might want to move him to make space for Sandin/get a RHD, but it would definitely probably have to be a hockey trade with at least 2 players on each side.
