This is so far off Verbeek even thinking about a trade

Almost every Flames fan trade I've seen over the past number of weeks is an overvalue of Dube and Valimaki for players much better than them.
This is the equivalent of a Leafs fan offering Engval and Kral (plus a late first and second) for these guys

You're confusing Calgary with Toronto plus confusing Dube and Valimaki with Kerfoot and Holl or Kerfoot and Sandin! Leafs fans post far far more lopsided trades favoring their team than anyone else. So many it often seems like there are more lopsided Leafs trades than posts for all other teams combined!

Leafies... Always trying to dump some combination of Kerfoot, Holl, Sandin and Muzzin for better players who get paid less + picks and as if that's not bad enough having the nerve to suggest 50% retention on the incoming players too!

I'm not saying some Leaf fans do. I'm also not saying all Flames fans do. But if you're trying to tell me that Valimaki is better than Sandin, you need to give your head a shake. No one is trying to dump Sandin, but there is a log jam thanks to the cap situation, and he might have to be dealt if a deal can't get done or other pieces can't be moved out..

IMO, Kerfoot is a value add for most contending teams. Will he fetch a big price? No. Cause teams know they have to move him for cap space. Holl is Holl. If we get a 4th for him, great, but the guy can play 20 minutes a game and is on a pretty decent contract at $2mil. It's very unlikely Muzzin is moved due to the high contract and injury history, but personally, I'm ok with that, cause when he's in the lineup he contributes, and when he's out we get the LTIR space.

Every fan (for the most part) over values their players compared to other teams. There are very few unbiased, objective fans on this site. But you can't get upset when someone calls out members of your fanbase when they start putting together Dube, Valimaki and picks for guys like Terry (37 goal scorer) and Barzal (high end center).

I didn't say Valimaki is better than Sandin but he still has more potential. In fact if he doesn't start approaching that potential soon he could turn into a bust but if he actually reaches his potential he'll be worth a whole lot more than Sandin.

Holl is actually a decent 3rd pairing defenseman and isn't overpaid for that. The problem is Toronto can't afford to pay a decent 2nd pairing dman so they keep trying to turn Holl into one.

And BTW, I called out the proposal in this thread as a "Homer Trade".

I know you did. And from the posts I've seen from you on this site, I respect most of your positions.
I do disagree on Valimaki. Sandin has a much higher ceiling IMO, but we can agree to differ on that one. I do agree that another season or two of not making an NHL club will turn V into a bust though.

This package would likely get you Terry. Dube & Valimaki are underrated + 1st & 2nd RD Picks are valuable. Would need to add for Comtois, probably another 2nd/3rd Round Pick

I do agree Valimaki is at risk of losing even more value than he has by not playing and showcasing his talent when he does get playing time but I do believe he’d make most NHL Team Rosters as their 5th, 6th or certainly 7th D-Man
