Right before the Seattle expansion draft Detroit traded a 2nd round pick and Panik to the Islanders for Nick Leddy. Ghost I don't think at the time was playing quite as good as Leddy but considering we could have saved a 2nd and added another one would have been great. That 2023 2nd we have from St Louis could still be really good but we could have likely gotten something similar for Ghost at the deadline next season if rebounded hours play, which I feel he did quite a bit in Arizona considering how bad they were.

Agreed. I'm wondering if Yzerman wasn't allowed to spend to the cap the last few years since the covid restrictions and also lack of team production, for when there were no restrictions, had the attendance quite low.
