Nope. I like Coronato and a 1st sounds great, but BUF is done shipping out quality NHL talent for futures. Also, you'd want Tage at C, he's much better there (last year was his first at C)

You do realize Buffalo is trying to exit a rebuild, not start one.

This is not the move, Tage is a center and doesn't have a spot of that in Calgary. Coronato will be on an ELC for the next 3-4 years and looks like a legitimate 1st liner whereas Tage will be demanding a big raise as soon as next season when the Huberdeau contract kicks in

Buffalo is hanging up the phone immediately. Rage Thompson is a 6’7” 24 year old forward that was almost a point per game player for Buffalo. Why would they trade him away? Literally the only way this works is if Calgary offers Pelletier or another first and even then Buffalo still probably wouldn’t do it

We've had 22 picks the last 2 drafts including 5 1sts, 3 2nds and 3 3rds. We have 3 2nds already next year and if not the top prospect group in the league, top 3.

Even ignoring that, Tage scored 38 goals last year and makes 1.4 million this year.

Tage is absolutely loved in Buffalo, and Calgary cannot accomodate his next contract. He's staying put

Rage Thompson would be what Sabres fans would be doing if the Sabres make this trade. On the bright side I think you just inadvertently named his cheering section.

Thanks for all the feedback, I really liked Thompson and thought he would be a great addition to the flames. I didn’t realize how beloved he was, and I love the “Rage” Thompson.

It’s fine. Seriously though a while ago I think about all the bad trades I’ve made on Capfriendly. I predicted that Buffalo would trade Tage Thomson, 2 2nd round picks and Ullmark to Washington for Braden Holtby back before 2020-21. I completely understand with people not know that a certain player is loved by there fanbase.
