I was curious how that would work. Thanks for clarifying

I don’t think he is the same player as Tkachuk, but I think he’s more of a complete player than you’re alluding too. I would entertain the idea of Ehlers, but I have question marks around Nylander.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bast</b></div><div>I think that gives the Flames too many RD(Weegar, Andersson, Tanev, Parayko). Unless the plan is to trade Tanev at the TD, it doesn't make much sense.</div></div>
You may be correct, but Weegar typically has played on the left. In Florida he played on the left side of Ekblad, and think him and Andy could form a very formidable top pairing.
Tanev needs to be bumped down to the third pairing so that his body doesn’t have to deal with the rigours of 20 + min a night. That’s why I had Parayko slotted beside big Z. It also gives Zad a little more flexibility to rush the puck. Just my thoughts.

Hanifin is worth more even with an expiring deal as he is younger, produces more and is better defensively.</div></div>
Ok fair enough, in my mind I felt like their age, value, and production was almost a wash. I hate getting accused of being so lopsided for my team. If it’s a second to get the 1 mil retention. Yes please.
My reasoning for the trade idea is:
Weegar - Anderson
Zad - Parayko
Kyl - Tanev

Even if we don't trade Vladar, Wolf is playing in the NHL next year, B2B goalie of the year in the AHL, can't justify sending him down.
How is Coronato playing 2nd line over Pelletier, when JP played 2nd line to end last year?
Sorry if it sounds like I'm hating BTW, I'm a Flames fan as well and hoping for the best!</div></div>
Open for critique, for me the top 4 d are interchangeable. I think Weegar is the better d man overall, which is why I had him up there. But in that breath I wanted Weegar and big Z to be partners all last year.
Coronato over Pellts is only based on skill set, Scoronato is more heralded as a shooter, and I want him playing with Huberdeau, and protected defensively by Lindholm. I’m
Hoping Yegor can be Kadri’s Nichushkin “lite”, lol.
The fourth line is what we’ve been missing, speed with speed, and more speed.

Bertuzzi would never sign in Canada given his previous political opinions on Covid and the vaccine mandates.
Hanifin is worth more than a single first, and Tanev for a 2nd is poor asset management.</div></div>
I believe that Edmonton matches on Bouchard, which puts them in an even tougher spot. If not, he is more serviceable than you are making him out to be, and he is only 23.
I think the bertuzzi stuff is overrated, we may have to go to $6 mil to entice him, but my question to you then? Do you think he would be a good fit for the flames?
Severson got a 3rd on a sign and trade, a 2nd (especially buffalos) is good management. If you can also get a 3rd (or another 2nd) great. Buffalos young D would benefit greatly from Tanev in their lineup.
Hannifin is a tough one for me, because who needs a #2 Left Shot D, who has the cap to take him on? I liked Pitt as a landing spot for him, but what more do you want or could get for him? A first and a second?

Huberdeau - Backlund/Dube - Kadri/Mangiapane
Mangiapane/Coleman - Dube/Backlund - Coleman/Kadri
Ritchie/Pelletier/Ruzicka - Lewis - Duehr/Coronato
Huberdeau-Lindholm-Kadri and Toffoli-Lindholm-Kadri would both be interesting to see as well = Load Up</div></div>
I think Kadri is too much of a free lancer to be a good “wingman”. But I do agree with your point.
I was thinking about it again last night. What if we went back to the start of the year….
Ruzie - Lindy - Toffoli (correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Ruzie go PPG?)
Mang - Kadri - Dube (they might lack a true playmaker, but tenacity makes up for it)
Hubie - Backs - Coronato (Backs can protect Coronato, and gives Hubie another young guy with speed and a shot to feed)
Pellts - Lewis - Coleman (An actual threat of a fourth line who is very defensively responsible)
If you need to get some size in the lineup, Looch replaces Pellts, and Ritchie replaces Coronato. But it is a very deep lineup, that has scoring threats on all four lines.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Depends whether you believe Hunderdeau would be better with a Left Shot RW or a Right Shot RW, but Duehr is hot right now , so deserves more minutes and I kept familiar pairings for consistency:
Lindholm-Toffoli
Huberdeau-Backlund
Mangiapane-Coleman
I also give Coronato a decent Winger in Dube and Coronato could Centre that 4th line with Lewis at RW</div></div>
I believe that Hubie is naturally better suited for a Left Shot Rightwing, because he usually slows the play down or does his spin-o-Rama, but suits a left shot coming back towards him in a one timer spot.
I also think that he bet much needs a North South Center to drive play and open up space for him to be creative. My long term hope is that it could be Dube, or even better Zary.
The combination of Pellts and Scoro could be a similar mold to JH and MT which might be great for Lindholm to build with (again in the long run).
I don’t love your first two pairs, even though it has been working (because it’s what we have).

Recommended Lines Against DAL After 7-2 VEG Win
I like all your suggestions and I wish that we could’ve seen more combos just to see what we got. For me like you guys Hubie with Lindy has to be your top duo cuz like it or not they kind of need to figure out how to play together for at least the next 6 years, lol.
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Dube (I think he can play on his off wing, and Huberdeau like playing with a left hand shot on the RW)
Ruzie - Kadri - Toffee (I want Rosie to take more draws, and he has good hockey iq, did pretty well playing with Lindy and Toff when Huberdeau was out at the beginning of the year)
Mang - Backs - Coleman (because you have too)
Pelts - Lewis - Duehr (Pelletier has been great this year, but protect him a little more, and I believe he played with Duehr in the wranglers so should have some chemistry from that).
Defense is pretty much locked down for me. Alternating Gilbert and Stecher depending on the team, is good roster management.

Your underlying premise is only half right -- it's a good thing to get high draft picks for rentals, but it won't be rebuilding teams like Chicago, Columbus and Montreal who will be doing that. And Pittsburgh, the oldest team in the league next season if I'm not mistaken, isn't going to be giving you a first-round pick for a 34-year-old.</div></div>
The premise of my thought, is that by taking quality players on expiring contracts, it allows those rebuilding teams a chance at a better return at next years TDL. That was why I purposely asked for their 2024 1st, it doesn’t affect their draft capital this year, and gives them an asset to turn into more draft capital next year.
