It's good value for a trade that will reinforce your 2nd line, get you rid of a Dman that is often injured and you get a B prospect that gives you offensive upsides.

Girard is not "often injured" - he's been dinged up a few times but that describes most players at various points. Girard has played 340 games since 2017-2018 while Devo has played 358 games since 2016-2017. Devo literally missed 5 months of the 2018-2019 season to an injury; he only played 56 games last season while Girard has never played fewer than 67 in a full season. Who is the more injured player between the two?

And the Avs aren't exactly desperate for a 2C at this point no matter how much people want that to be the case; they have internal options that they can try before they go burning assets. It makes little sense for them to trade a young, cost-controlled, top-4 D for a borderline 2C/3C that has three years left. I like Devo - he's better than JTC but he isn't exactly an established 2C. This is just not a realistic trade.

The only realistic option I think Girard should be traded for would be Sam Bennett. And at this point, I think that'd even be dumb. Newhook is going to be a straight killer. You'll be good.
