Description
Habs are gonna ride the LTIR train for the start of the season and let their players regain some value after an abysmal season.

After a loooonnggg offseason, players will be healthy and fully rested which tells me that we should have a decent offensive start of the season with MSL.

Therefore, the trades will happen this season even if we are in the playoff picture in the first 20-25 games.

Line to start the season.

The storefront line :

Drouin - Suzuki - Caufield

- Drouin will have a good camp and will be put on a line with Caufield and Suzuki to increase his value. He'll start the season with a 0.80 ppg pace (historically, he always has good starts). Then KH will trade him half retained to a team having a bad offensive start or an important injury for a first round pick in 2024.

The only offense line

Dadonov - Monahan - Hoffman

Again - another marketing ploy to increase value of trade bait. Dadonov and Hoffman have a lot of chemistry and Mony wants a redemption tour - this line will look good on the rush... and that's it.

But will most likely gets some goals if utilized in a mostly offensive role.

Dadonov will be traded so will Mony and Hoffman if we can find some willing trade partners. But those two will be kept if we have to pay to get rid of them.

The Mentorship line or Project "lets salvage Dach"

Dvorak/Dach - Dvorak/Dach - Anderson

Dach is terrible in the faceoff circle, which makes it harder to give him important assignments. Therefore, by putting him with an experienced center who can share the burden and teach him the ropes (like Thompson and Suzuki). Anderson is there to help him rack up points and build confidence. Until Mony or Dvorak is traded - Dach will be paired with a center (could be Evans on his RW).

The grit line.

Slafkovsky - Evans - Gallagher

This line will be lowkey exceptional on 5v5 and will probably eat a lot of minute for a 4th line. Slafkovsky will start on the 4th like Suzuki did in a more reserve role then his responsibility will increase.

This line is like a lite-version of the Tatar - Danault - Gally line. This will become MSL favourite line. Lot of gritty cycling and puck battles. Will likely play against 3rd D pairing and exploit them.

Pitlick will replace anyone that is dragging the team down (aka Hoffman)

I suspect we might see Dvorak on Suzuki's LW to let Monahan, Dach, Evans take the other Center spots.

In moving Dvorak to wing you can expect elevated Offensive production and if he's pacing 55-60 points we can trade him for a real return.

The biggest knock on Dach is his Physical play (he does not take the body, he's got no mean streak), so it makes sense to play him with Slafkovsky or Anderson. Personally hoping they play him with Both.

I'm a big fan of an "expendables line". 3 players all looking to earn a new contract to stay in the show:

        Monahan centering Dadonov and Drouin.

Evans centering Pitlick and Gallagher is my last line.

Hoffman does not make my lineup. To be clear I am not sacrificing a year of Pitlick's promising career to live up to Hoffman's contract. Send him home. Send him to the AHL. Just keep that Terrible example of how to not be a pro away from our team.

Slafkovsky on the fourth line and you calll it the grit line….I cannot tell you how much I hate that!

Play him in AHL if that’s the alternative

        These trades are deadline trades?

Well, pretty sure Ottawa will have zero need/interest in Monahan

Nah, just a way to say those players are moved out - who knows what they will look down the road.

Playing with Gally and Evans will give him good minutes and good responsibility without putting too much pressure... any line with Gally is the grit line

I agree, i am not fond of hoffman - but I see him above Pitlick for now because of his left shot.

Why? Pitlick was scoring at an equivalent pace with a much better +/- and a visibly stronger defensive game. Pitlick is 7 years younger and earns 1/4th the salary. What makes Hoffman attractive over Pitlick?

No way Drouin goes to LA especially for a first round pick. Drouin will start out the season playing 15 games and then go on ltir again.

meh - I don't believe he will be back on LTIR - he had one injury with OVI ramming him like a train... then it was depression that got him. He's doing better and will be healthy this year.
