I think I'd rather keep Suter. I doubt LA trades Durzi. Don't need Kerfoot. Yzerman won't place players on LTIR. You can't accrue cap space during the season. Plus Fabbri and Walman will both return at some point. Yzerman recently said he doesn't want to be close to the cap because he'd have to make a trade.

I really like Graves and Durzi but I don't think those trades happen.

I actually really like Suter, bonus points for him being Swiss. But Graves isn't really expendable until next season when Luke arrives and our forward depth is already pretty bloated. Devils would need to make several other moves to make a trade like this work. Like trading out Johnsson and trading for Hague.

Exchanging one RD for another doesn't help Los Angeles. We'd trade you Sean Durzi, but the only LhD we'd want from you in return isn't available.

I don't see Suter being traded until we see how Copp does at center. If Detroit likes Copp at center then Suter or Veleno becomes expendable.

Veleno is interesting. He has all the tools to be a top 6, and he has had a few opportunities to impress but he fell short. 10 percent of his minutes he looks like an elite top line center, and 20 percent of the time he looks lost and amateurish. He never seemed to know where to go and at what time, but the moments he was where he should be, he looked fantastic and ready to up his game. We will see what new coaching brings to his game.

I see Veleno as a guy who might be a late bloomer and really become a top 6 player. He just might not do it with Detroit. I'd be very reluctant to give him up unless the return is top quality.

Yes Veleno has the tools to be a middle 6 center but if Suter can put up 35 to 45 points as a #3C. If they do decide to trade one of them, put both of them on the block and the one who brings the biggest return is gone.

Vrlrno probably gets the better return until near the tdl. Veleno looks at times to be top 6. There is potential there still, I just hope the new coach brings it out of him. Veleno reminds me a lot of Riley Sheahan, as a guy with all the tools and flashes of superstar. Seriously, Sheahan up until his mid 20s looked the part of a guy waiting for a 40 goal Selke season.. instead he was a dud. Let us hope Veleno goes the opposite of Sheahan and makes good on the potential and flashes of elite..
