Why would MON send a prospect in return for Gardiner? I think CAR will need to add a 2nd round pick to any deal including Gardiner...

Montreal needs 2 top pairing dmen. With the potential rookies they having coming in this season, they'll have 7 dmen who are all bottom 4. So, no thank you.

I don’t think we could get a 1st that late in the offseason, but at the TDL or next offseason, depending on Dvorak season, he will fetch a nice return IMO

That was Dvorak best PPG season in his career tho and yes he was underwhelming under Ducharme like almost every other Habs player, but 17 points in 22 games under MSL is really good

Canes would pay dearly to Habs for them to "help out" their cap issues. Especially considering their recent history. Certainly don't expect a prospect in return.

the habs overpaid because they got hoodwinked by carolina. dvorak's value was also partly based on potential. people thought he would break out once he got out of arizona. now we know that wasn't the case and avs aren't desperate like the habs were. that's why he value returns back to normal.

given the contract KK is currently on i think the habs are pretty ok with KK being gone. the 3rd rounder in the dvorak deal was probably the cost of the habs being desperate but thats about it. If he was expected to be a top offensive contributor then yes you would be right, but Dvorak brings a lot more to the table then just offensive productions which is way he is the most likely candidate to be moved by the habs.

The return mentioned above from the AVES was clearly just to showcase how ridiculous it is to think MTL would give up a prospect to take back Gardiner who add nothing to their roster except his salary.
