How does trading Bjornfot for Girard fill a need? It fills a gap and opens another.

Substitute Jacob Moverare for Tobias Bjornfot and I'd be fine; I'm not sure I'd be happy with giving up Bjornfot. I wouldn't float a petition to fire Blake if he did that, though, or even sign one; I trust his judgment over mine.

I think Sean Walker is worth at least a fourth even after his injury.

I’d agree with you about Walker, but the Kings are right up against the flat cap. It wouldn’t shock me if it came out that teams wanted a pick to take him. Btw if he’s healthy he’s absolutely worth it. I just think the risk factor here is significant when your dealing with an ACL year.

They're only up against it with this trade OR if Anderson and Durzi aggregate more than $3.9 million; otherwise, there's no urgency in moving Walker. There's also the possibility that with two roster slots open and $3.9 million in cap space (odd coincidence), Colorado might take Iafallo and Walker for Girard.

Personally I’d want to see Walker play before trading for him. But that’s just my position on all guys coming off injuries. He’s a good player as long as he’s healthy.

It's a pretty fair offer, but the Avs need C. Without that, I can't see them moving Girard. They'd probably be better off overall making a lesser trade or signing someone like Rodrigues imo.

I could c the Avs wanting a center prospect in the deal tbh. I also can’t see Sakic taking back Walker unless he can verify Walker is 100%. But Anders Lee was very good last year coming back from acl surgery, so I won’t bet against Walker!!!

Back before the expansion Draft I thought that moving Girard may make more sense for the Avs than moving Graves. He has value, but I’m not sure how easy it will be to move him at this point if the off season because of the flat cap.

If they got Iafallo and Walker (an additional $1.65 million in cap over Girard), they'd have $2.25 million to sign Rodrigues.

It's a rough market for moving cap. Could be anything.

As for swapping bjornfoot I think it would require a pick. But I'd leave that up to Avs fans.

What gap does it open up? Kings need a top 4 lhd. They get one. No holes in this roster.

Yes but I still think that leaves them in a position where they have too much money invested in wingers on the 3rd line and questions at C. Fair point though.

That could easily be done. Thought with iafallo having term they may want an lhd prospect but with Toews and Bryam you may be right. Kings have plenty of options for young C prospects.

Iafallo can play C.

Rantanen and Landeskog can too, but they're both more comfortable at their natural position. I see Iafallo in the same way. Like the player, and really like that you're also offering Bjornfot to replace Girard. I'm just not sure it gets there unless Rantanen permanently moves to C.

The only other option would be danault. Avs have to take money back in the trade.

What happens later this season when Edler's age catches up to him and next season when he retires? Bjornfot is LA's 2LD of the future, he's just not quite ready for that role at age 21. Sending him out makes no sense, especially for Girard, who is overpaid and overrated .

I was thinking about a third line of Iafallo - Compher - Rodrigues. with Rodrigues signed for $2 to $2.5 million.

Moverare plus the better of our two 2023 thirds.

They have Anderson and girard. Edler could very well be a healthy scratch in this agm. I don't think girard is overpaid or overrated. Seems like bjornfot might be though. Good prospect doesn't always mean good nhler. like it was already discussed here kings could also send a young C and keep bjornfot. Or possibly moverare and a 3rd.

Kings need a good and preferably young top 4 lhd now. Girard is that. They don't come cheap either.

Exactly what I was thinking. I had moverare and the kings 3rd (which in my opinion would be the lower 3rd) with iafallo to begin with but changed it.

Amazing. I guess I should go ahead and post the Avs ACGM.
