Canes have enough centers. Mittelstadt makes no sense. Just take Bear for a 3rd

Canes pass. Bear + for Bryson, sure, since Mittelstadt holds no value to the Canes as a C.

From what I understand he's able to play the wing. He's also young enough and will be cost efficient. I thought he fit the Canes pretty well

Whether or not he can play wing is irrelevant if he is only on the 4th line. Which in that case would be blocking Drury or a couple of other prospects that could use the ice time more.

Bear + for Bryson works for me.
I would rather have Mittelstadt, please tell me what is the plus?

@HartemiPanarin Samuelsson played 42 games and looked better as the year progressed.
Solid stay at home LHD.

Might want to re-structure some of those signings because you have Ostlund, Kulich, Peterka, Rosen, Quinn, and Savoie all needing deals in the same offseason

Bryson is a stay at home LHD, Samuelsson is bigger and more physical.
Bryson LHD for Bear RHD
Trading a player from a position the Sabre have some depth (Dahlin, Power, Samuelson, Pilut and of course Bryson) to add a RHD.
I do not want to give up on Mittelstadt, he is one of picks to break out.

Probably nothing more than a mid round pick should be able to get it done. Canes need a 3LD, Sabres could use a RHD, trade that works for both sides.

I disagree, I think JJP, Savoie, Kulich, Quinn, Ostlund, Rosen all have higher ceilings than Middlestadt rn

I agree but does that matter?
Which of those players would you trade for a first round pick?
I do not want to give up on Casey for a bottom pairing RHD.
Casey was considered the top line center after the training camp starting the 2021-'22 season, then he was hurt for most of the season.
There will be a spot for him on the roster next year, why trade him when he has nearly no value.
Think of how many Sabre ACGM's were writing off Thompson ever since he came over in the O'Reilly trade.
Let's not make the same mistake with Casey.
