The problem with this for OTT is, though he would be a 5/6 on CAL, he's a 2/3 on OTT and they need his defensive skills. I'm not sold on Kylington's defensive play, as he was insulated on a very good CAL D last year. I didn't watch a ton of CAL games, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe he played much in short handed situations, and was often paired against 3rd and 4th lines. This trade would make an already suspect OTT D even less tough to play against.

Just a horrific deal for Ottawa. Ottawa gives up the best player who is their only top 4 RHD and three good prospects to downgrade to a worse left shot Dman, and lose on the future side too.

Zub >> Kylington
Kastelic + JBD + Sokolov >> Beck + 2nd.

I like Beck as a 67, but I don't see an every day NHL player at the moment. His offensive tools serve him well at this level, but I don't see it translating to NHL offense, and his poor defensive play and lack of strength will get exposed. He strikes me as someone in the Cory Connacher zone. Elite AHL offensive talent and gets NHL games as a result, but is ultimately not that guy.

I can't see Ottawa trading Zub since he's the only decent RD they have now. As for prospects Ottawa's are overrated now most of them significantly so. Even Sanderson is a bit overrated he's a good prospect but he's not elite.

Figured OTT might need another Offensive D-Man who can move the puck up ice and distribute it to their Forwards, someone who can contribute more than 0.25PPG other than Chabot. Kept hearing how Great Lassi Thomson is and Zub hasn't been re-signed, so thought maybe they'd like CGY to open up a spot on the Right Side for Thomson and the Acquisition Price and Cap Hit are way less for Kylington than Chychrun
