Caved in, like scored on? Cause there woudn't be anyone pushing them around.

I wouldn't envision them playing that many minutes. Maybe 10-12 a night. Mostly used on the PK when all they have to do is stand in front of their net, take up space and hurt people who dare to come close to Elvis.

Maybe not, but it's still better than just about all the offers I've seen on here. Maybe CBJ could add a 2024 protected 1st.

I'd be happy with this. Replaces Gus with Vlad for a year, opens up a spot on the D for someone. I think Vlad could do really well on either of those T6 lines, assuming he is swapping with Laine.

I do think CBJ would have to add a bit. At minimum, the 2nd would need to be conditional (maybe make it to the 2nd round and it upgrades to a 1st or something), or yeah, a 2024 protected 1st. Could add a Foudy to the package as well. I wouldn't mind retaining a little on Gus, just enough to keep us safely compliant (~ $2M).

Definitely not. Why would they trade their leading scorer, shot driving star to take back more cap in the form of one year of an older, considerably lesser C they don't need, a 3rd pairing D they don't need and a 2nd? It makes zero sense for the Blues, who are trying to win now.

Yes it's a bit of a lowball offer. A starting point. However, Gus is a 50pt wing with one year left - just like Tarasenko, who can replace him in the lineup, and Bean is a good young defenseman with offensive talent and top-4 potential that should be realized sooner than later. The 2nd could be upgraded to a 2024 protected first. CBJ could retain about 2mil on Nyquist if that is needed. They'd also be willing to discuss certain young players if there someone St. Louis thinks they could use for the future.

Just curious, but what would your ask be from CBJ?

Hmm I don't know. Prior to resigning Leddy, I would have said start with Gavrikov. Now it probably starts with Marchenko. Or if they go for a more established player, I'd want to start with Jenner well before Nyquist.

It's not just lowball, it's stuff they won't be tempted by. Like Bean, yeah he's a decent young D, but they already have LDs falling out of their ears, including young ones they want to get more ice time.

Got it. Yeah, those guys are all off the table for a trade like this 🤷‍♂️
