I guess I just don't understand why it would be necessary to do any of this. The only one that makes any sense to me is the Pavelski trade but that's only if it looks like one or all of the committee of JTC, Newhook and ERod can't really be counted on to be the 2C headed into the playoffs; and even then, I'd maybe give them the 2024 1st, Kaut and one other minor piece for the Pavs rental. All of the other moves seem superfluous and wasteful.

I get this is unrealistic, but I still have some critiques.

1. Overpay for Toews. I doubt he gets anything above a 1st, he is due for a slight rebound, and his defensive game is still good, but his cap hit is hard for Colorado to deal with and Newhook *could* be the 2C solution. Also, Condor doesn't waive to go to Chicago.

2. Really bad idea having MacDermid in the full-time lineup. He's a 7th D/ 13th F. Girard can stay around for another year at least, and even then, Toews would probably be the smarter move since he would guarantee us a huge return (defensive defensemen who get Norris votes don't come cheap).

3. Assuming Pavelski continues to play at an elite level, the Stars probably decline. They're probably going to be asking for something like Olausson + 1st for Pavelski at 50% (assuming they're sellers at TDL, they may try to make a push for a Wildcard spot).

Only way to improve the Avs is to upgrade goalies. like a Gibson trade or something. This doesnt even address that

How is it that COL gets absolutely jobbed in about every trade outside of the SJS one. I wouldn’t trade a 2nd rd pick for Toews much less add a bunch of stuff, forget the fact EJ laughs at you when you ask him to waive because I can guarantee there are 2 teams on his no trade list and Chicago is one of them. Why in the world is COL trading a 24yr old top 4 pairing dmen locked up for half a decade for an older, not as good, not as mobile dman, a fringe NHL player and a pick. I mean ffs Chiarot a traffic cone got a 1st a 4th and real prospect and Girard is significantly more valuable.
