I figure 7th overall is equal to two firsts and this contract helps them to the cap floor plus the young d could use a veteran presence

Thats a pretty big overpay for bunting, but they do have plenty of cap space.

Where is the premium prospect? Vilardi once was, turned out not to be. Plus they have to give up a 2nd as well?

They turned down 1st/Lysell/either Zboril or Achan/3rd from Boston. That was without having to give up a 2nd with JC.

Drop the 2nd it’s still lighter than they have been looking for but more in line.
