Description
Just want to see how this works.

This is what I'd like to see for thier starting lineup, really wish we hadn't signed gud but it is what it is for now.
Rask signing would really put everyone else in a better position. Hope they do this.

Sillinger and Johnson (maybe jiricek?) are the wild cards for this team and could put them into real playoff contention if they make a jump up in play.

Thoughts?

I really don't see Rask getting a contract with Jenner, Roslovic, Sillinger, Johnson and Kuraly all fighting for time at center ice in camp. That being said, I don't mind seeing Roslovic (or Jenner) on the wing, but I think Marchenko is a near lock to make the club. He is going to be dynamite for the Jackets this year and is heavily slept on by most pundits.

Roslovic has been pretty adamant on wanting to play C, and I think he has played well enough to warrant sticking there; but, Rask could be an interesting wild card here, but if he is signed it’s probably for less than $1M - there is a reason he is on a PTO after all.

And agreed - this team’s ability to compete boils down to how much Silly, Boqvist, KJ, and Marchenko show out. I don’t think Jiricek makes the team - probably give him a year to develop. If he does, I really only see it being because he plays at a top-pair level, a la Werenski during his rookie year.

Am I the only one who isn't sold on Marchenko?? I really hope he's dynamite that would be awesome but I'm kinda leaning towards he's going to struggle. Really think his first NHL camp will be an absolute eye opener for him. Competition is going to be fierce and I wouldn't be surprised if some guy like Bemstrom, chinakhov is really going to impress in pre-season games and force his way onto a roster, while Marchenko fails to impress.

My thought with the 2nd line is that Sillinger and roslovic would both play center but likely a 60/40 split for Ros.
I was being Abit generous with Rask at 1.5m lol but if you look at his season last year he's definitely worth that I'd say. But your right, 900k is probably where he would end up. But honestly, look at that top 9 if they sign Rask.
Marchenko (and hopefully foudy ) would be very nice to see explode this season and become fulltime NHLers

Yes. I take it you do not watch any KHL.

I changed my mind on Rask. I would like to see Jenner on the wing too and if there is injury it would be nice to bring Rask out there to keep Jenner on the wing. I think he only gets a contract if a center gets an injury before the season that would put them out 6+ weeks.

I mean, take as much apprehension with Marchenko as you should with any prospect - they haven't proven anything until they've done it in the NHL.

That being said, the guy was one of the leading scorers on one of the KHL's top teams at 20/21 years old. He likely would have been the leading scorer had they not kneecap'd his playing time after he declined to sign a three-year extension during the season, because he wanted to come to the NHL.

I'm apprehensive on Chinny, if only because it felt like the team tried to force him onto the team last year, despite struggling for a majority of the season. I still think he can turn it around and become a solid M6 guy, but I just think he needs more AHL time before that happens.

No I do not, we all know KHL doesn't always translate to the NHL. If I remember correctly from a guy who tallied the numbers, it's about 50/50 for guys who are top producers in the KHL to translate to the NHL.
I really hope he does, but until I see him produce at the NHL level, I'm going to be skeptical. I wasn't impressed by his Traverse city outing, can't wait to see how he does in training camp though and especially the pre-season games.

Yeah I'm familiar with the behind the scenes politics he had to endure in the KHL and if you look up his advanced analytics card, it's off the charts good... I really hope he turns out as good as everyone thinks he's going to ... but I'm skeptical, I'm really hoping though.. that would be sweet.
