Avs maybe, depending on how Newhook/Rodrigues perform at 2C and depending on what kind of contract Horvat is looking for

What do you think they would offer? Would imagine the Canucks say Newhook or no deal as the Avs don't really have anyone else that would be of interest.

Im not saying hes bad, but that doesnt seem like an accurate description of Horvat to me. Statistically his defense is below average but his offense/shooting makes up for it. He really only had 1 season where he was strong defensively and that was in 17-18

I would love to keep Horvat on the team and run 3 quality centers. The issue at hand is what his agent is demanding. Elliotte Friedman thinks his camp is going after an AAV close to Miller's, which just won't make sense for the Canucks. Unless there's movement on the player's side, there may have to be a trade.

Horvat isn't really a shutdown centerman. His 2 way game has slightly declined and there is a possibility he is not re-signed. Per Elliote Friedman, Horvat is asking for 7+

Every single season aside from 17-18 he had a EV Defensive War below the 50th percentile. 17-18 is also the only season where he had a lower xGA/60 relative to teammates. Hes not atrocious defensively but hes definitely below average

Just accept the facts. Horvat has always been deployed in unfavourable positions. He is better suited as a scoring center and not a shutdown one. There is a reason Benning acquired Jason Dickinson to take defensive duties off of Horvat

Yeah all the defensive burdens were forced onto Horvat because there was nobody else on the team that could take him. His defensive play has declined as he is better suited playing on an all offensive line

What are you talking about? I literally put a spreadsheet of stats in my comment. I said hes not atrocious defensively, just below average and I think thats a pretty fair assessment
