I don’t think you understand why he’s being traded

You want us to take Holl and retain? No. If you want half retention on Bear, that could probably be done for a 2nd. If you want to dump Holl on us, could also probably be done for a 2nd. You want Bear straight up, it's going to cost a 3rd. You want to dump Holl and get retention? It's going to cost a couple of 2nds, or even a 1st. It's not a price you want to pay. Just find a different place for Holl and pay the 3rd.

Why would the Hurricanes do this? They aren't saving money, they aren't saving a roster spot. What exactly are they getting here?

Everyone knows the going rate for Bear is a 3rd

Is it a surplus issue in CAR? I see they have 5 RHD on the roster in cap friendly. 2 of which will play ahead of him for sure in Pesce and Burns...

Bear isn't worth it. He's fine but he's really not an upgrade over anything we already have. At least not enough of an upgrade to warrant spending assets to get him.

It doesn't make sense for TO either. It's a wash of a trade.

Bear is solid and a good 3rd pairing guy whos played 1st or 2nd pairing in his young career, but hes surplus in CAR.

But they'll get a much better return than this offer, this offer is just pretty bad
