Nil easily passes on that Garland is a good player. Hoglander is a we'll see. A third is a lottery ticket to Dallas. Robertson is a superstar easy no. Minimum half a dozen teams beat that offer.

Fair trade.
See no reason for why Stars fans would be upset with this.

Change the 3rd to a 1st and I think the trade would be one of the top trade offers they receive imo

Dallas passes.

And a 20 man roster and $1,635,000 over the cap.

I'm not a Stars fan, but from an unbiased perspective, this isn't even close. Robertson is on the cusp of superstar status and none of those pieces are even close to enough to land him. Think Lekkerimäki and 2 1st round picks at least.

Seems like I need to work on making my text-based sarcasm a bit easier to identify.

No I wouldn't. My point is Robertson at 23 is already the player Canadiens fans have to hope Caufield becomes ,so why should Dallas do it?

It would probably be one of the lower offers but at least something worth offering. Change Hoglander to Podolzkin and then it would be more interesting for the Stars.

I don’t know why but their owner seems to not like to give young guys deals so if he is to be dealt k think it would be a decent return — that’s where I was coming from, not I think oh they should trade him

I disagree it's a decent return it's Meh at best 4-7 teams easily beat that offer.

Who would you say? There aren’t many teams who can afford him unless they offload some money in the process

As an RFA he's doesn't have much leverage. So sign a decent bridge and tell Dallas to F-off later if you're Robertson and feel slighted disrespected use your choice of verbs.

Didn't Vancouver do that in this trade with Garland. Robertson is a guy if you can acquire even if it puts you over the cap you get and figure the cap out later. 23 year old 40 goal scorers are pretty rare and valuable. He's paced 37 goals per 82 games already. And 43 assists per 82 . Should get better

We might as well go for the offersheet route in that case. Us trading a lot of assets for a winger would not be a good move though.

Any offer sheet that would cost less would be matched by Dallas and they'd sort out the cap afterwards.

Offer sheets only go through when they're for way more than the other club can afford, or is willing to risk being stuck with, because the contract has driven into untradable territory. Otherwise, all they accomplish is bad blood between GMs, soured relationships with a player and the club, tied up assets while the process plays out and then if they actually go through - the prize is giving up a boat load of picks for an overpaid player.

I will never understand the fascination with offer sheets.
