Why would the Jets give up the far better player to get a cap dump?

Hoffman likely costs a first to dump. That's $9.0 mil you're asking a team to throw away. They aren't going to give you the better player to do that.

Okay, I can see where you're coming from. But as you said Johnson cost a 2nd to move, he didn't return a player better than him.

That's the point here. There is no chance Winnipeg or any other team gives up a far better player to stick themselves with a cap dump.

wait...we're arent comparing Johnson and Hoffman are we?
TB needed space desperately and TJ did them a solid by waiving
Hoffman is a one dimensional overpaid winger with a history of locker room issues
