a trade like this is possible, but it would likely be for futures if anything, and wouldn’t be til next summer when he’s only owed about 6 mil over 2 seasons, that’s of course contingent on him waving which he likely doesn’t

With no NMC THAT AAV IS 12-13. Clubs don't give up control freely it costs a player in either term or AAV to get a NMC being Tavares signed max term it was AAV.

I know its Hypothetical but here are a couple of reasons why this won't happen.

Dubas isn't going to trade Tavares.in division.

Tavares an NMC.

Toronto is 100% win now so futures don't really help.

Detroit currently ins't playoff team so it is very unlikely they trade futures for a 32 year old center.

Tavares's $11M cap hit doesn't make it easy to resign Larkin, Bertuzzi, Vrana and Ned this year. Then next year they have Hronek, Raymond and Seider.
