Rasmussen has easily cemented his spot at 3c, this is ridiculous where you have him. My bet is Soderblom plays on the 4th line and gets PP time as net front. Once Sunny is cleared, Soderblom will be sent to GR.

Also, Barton is hurt, he will not be on the roster.

Trying to make sense of the moves that Stevie made today, this is what I came up with. I see that Seth Barton was sent down, all I can gather from that is that Haag isn't ready to go yet, so he'll be on IR to start the season, so Seth is a healthy scratch. Solderblom also didn't get sent down, I can't seem him as a 4th liner, if think he would be better suited to be in GR than a 4th liner. I don't see a place for Suter, I think he'll be traded soon, but don't know would be interested and what the asking price would be. Still trying to make sense of the changes that were made. The only other player that is unaccounted for is Biakabutuka, nut that is a GR issue, very interested whether he'll be given a ECL or not.

Curious as to what everyone else things about the moves done today. Seth Barton is the one that really has me scratching my head, only think I can think is that Haag isn't quite ready. Also I really hope that Soderblum isn't a 4th liner, or a healthy scratch, I don't see how that would help his development.

Ok, thanks that makes sense. Like I said I was trying to make sense of the moves today. I agree with you on Rasmussen, but didn't with Soderblum being on the team, had to slot his somewhere. I'd rather have Soderblum on the top line in GR and being on the 4th line in Detroit, think that would be better for his development, but hey what do I know.

Soderblum starts his NHL career on the wing to acclimate to the NHL.

Suter starts the season as Detroit's 3C he is easily more complete of a player than Rasmussen and Veleno.

Highly doubt Suter starts there over Ras. Ras was easily one of, if not our best player in the preseason and had fantastic chemistry with Kubalik and Zadina.

Suter on the offer hand looked like he wilted under the pressure of competing for a roster spot and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he ends up being a healthy scratch this season.

Something tells me that Barton may be involved in a minor trade deal. Every year, there are always several trades involving one for one former or current prospects. My guess is another team that was interested in drafting him originally may think he is worth taking a gamble on, and now is the time to bring him in. Or flip side, Yzerman wants to use him as the piece to acquire another team's project. With Big B, maybe it could be wanting to see him just a little bit more before deciding whether or not to match the Chicago Wolves contract offer.

Hoping to see Soderblom tear up GR with Bergy, and possibly Veleno. A Sodes-Veleno-Berggren line in the AHL would be scary.
