Seems a bit light and might as well throw more at them to get full retention on Meier

I do like Kunin. Young Physical Right Shot C/RW with Good Size & Skill. Would be a good fit in CGY

If not for Meier's $10 mil QO he'd be worth more. But it effectively makes him a UFA rental.

And yeah Kunin would be a good fit in the bottom 6.

Gonna be honest, I think SJ does everything in their power to sign him long term similar to Hertl. If they do move him, there will have to be a good young piece added, cause in all honesty Toffoli is a cap dump to clear space and has an extra year. If they can pry him away from SJ, it would def be a great add to push them over the top

I dunno about that. I don't think anyone (including SJ) is going to give Meier his QO so unless he signs for quite a bit less he's effectively UFA in the summer. Also SJ very recently said they only have one "untouchable" Tomas Hertl, everyone else is available for the right price. The question is what is the right price?

To get more than a rental price for Meier he'd have to come with an extension. If Meier and SJ cooperate they could try to pull off something like the Matthew Tkachuk trade. He signs for less than he could have gotten from the highest bidder but he gets to choose where he goes and the Sharks get a good return for him.

It wouldn't be for the qualifier.........it would be a long term deal in the value range of Hertl. Meier know's he's not getting a long term deal at his QO amount. He'd take the 7-8 year deal colse to what Hertl took. And that's worth it for SJ

Move the first round pick down one year.

We nearly have an entire team in the AHL, if we can draft an elite defenseman in a draft class like this we can seamlessly transition from our veteran core to the future Calgary Wranglers in 3-4 years.
