Description
First off Hextall should go. Quite honestly I think he's atrocious and has no clue what he's doing. Second off, I think we need to consider a coaching change if this continues. Sullivan needs to be able to play other ways than the speed game 100%. Way too stubbourn. Lastly, the roster is too old and needs to be overhauled. Too many players making a ton who aren't doing anything.

What's the price for Dumoulin? On paper, I think he's my top LHD acquisition for the Isles if that spot doesn't resolve itself as the season goes on.

Pens should be fine imo, the Metro is still totally up for grabs, but still

You can have him. I love him as a player and for everything he's done, but it's not working anymore. What would you be willing to give in return? Any players that could help us? Yeah we might rebound and make playoffs, but not a given this year. And even if we do it dosen't mean anything if we lose first round again. It could be time for big change

Problem is, all these things were known before preseason.

Resigniung Letang, Malkin and Carter and then trading for Petry made age a real concern. Grabbing Rutta in UFA didnt make things better. They decided to double down on the win now mode.

Age of the team was accepted. Lack of quality prospects/youth - almost accepted. What is there, 2 players on the roster under the age of 25 (POJ and Poulin)?

Hextall is going to Hextall and hes going to drive the players crazy. Like another older team, the Leafs, the Pens are going to ride with the horses in the corral, for good or bad.

After they re-signed/signed all the old guys and When they gave Kapanen 2 yrs, I always said they should move him. McEwen, a 3rd and a middling prospect who could be hit or miss like an Isaac ratcliffe was what I thought would work.

I was very hesitant about re-signing the core. Every time I expressed doubt though I got a lot of hate for it. I love all those guys, but I felt we need to build a young team around Crosby. Once we brought them back I was fine with it, but said we need to surround Crosby Malkin and Letang with even more youth. Hextall went out of his way to make the team older. Just a bad GM and a coach who dosen't know how to adjust.
Hammerwise liked this.

Hextall also micro managed everybody (players, coaches, trainers, etc) when he was GM in Philly. And frankly made the team far worse than even Holmgren. For every good move, there was an equally poor one, and hes not one to change or take advice. Good luck with that.

At this point I'd celebrate if the Pens got a 5th for him

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt with Nylander and Caggiula. Both have zero value to the Hawks. Try a draft pick or actual prospect.

Edmonton doesn't have the cap space and I doubt Petry wants to go back there anyhow.
