Not trading for Kane. Of course an Islander fan is doing this. Rangers are fine the way they are. Getting older in the top 6 and more expensive is a recipe for disaster given the current amount of money tied up in long term deals we have. No thanks, tryna avoid cap hell which we are pretty much already in. And I’m not moving anyone noteworthy for a rental. Playing the 2010’s game is how you end up with no prospects and an old, broken, expensive team. Better for us to stay status quo.

Hawks would probably prefer a picks /prospects package

Keep in mind you're dealing with teams that are going to be contenders that mostly don't have a deep prospect pool or young talent. what team could out bid the Rangers. Toronto, LA maybe but I don't think so.

Kaako alone will not get it done. Oilers, Toronto, Pens, Washington, Toronto can all offer (2) 1st round picks or a 1st + a very good prospect. Kaako isn't living up to his draft status, and in fact, one can argue he's the biggest disapointment from the top 10 in 2019 at #2 OA. Dach, Hughes, Byram, Zegras, Seider, etc. are out playing him as of now.

This is getting painful to listen to right? Who cares about Kanes retention lol, his future cap does not fit period, pure rental. No statso Kakko is driving people into a frenzy lol. Non watchers don't see his other dominating factors progressing nicely. Imagine giving young core away for a rental?! Lol

Thank you for being reasonable. I think the Rangers need to just stay the course and that’s it.

Okay, but do you really think Kane signs a $7M per year deal for 4 years? Maybe, but that would be the bottom of what he's projected to sign on a shorter term deal.

I keep hearing Rangers fans talk about Kakko this year like he's had some sort of breakout season. The guy has 3 points in 11 games while playing in a consistent top 6 role. I've watched a few Rangers games this year and I will admit he looks strong on the puck and shows flashes of offensive ability, but rarely converts on his chances. For a player like Kane, you're gonna need to give up a lot more than a guy whose on pace for 22 points in an 82 game season. Start by including that Dallas 1st

In the current "bump in the road" the NYR currently are in it's easy to find fault with certain players and/or look to quick fixes...but IMHO, here is why entertaining the idea of bringing Kane to the Rangers is a BAD, VERY BAD idea:

The players exchanged- in this case Kakko for Kane- is basically a lateral move. Sure, at the moment Kane has more fire power than Kakko...but the upgrade- whether slight or significant- still doesn't address why the NYR are struggling now: 3rd line production, defensive struggles (mainly Miller and Trouba), and Shesty "playing down " to the level of a very good goalie (as opposed to outright stealing wins last year).

So we can discuss at length whether CHI could get more than Kakko for Kane...whether it's worth even rolling those dice on a pure rental like Kane....or even whether it's worth spending even more for Kane (in the case of a sign and trade like 4X7 mentioned here). Bottom line is that after all is said and done- Kane alone doesn't solve NYR short comings. Might put more corporate suits in the seats to improve the bottom line for the Dolans (whose finances at the moment aren't struggling to the best of my knowledge)...but more so would continue a team philosophy which has resulted in 1 Cup in 80 years!

Me for one- I'll pass on Kane- given the cost he'd put on NYR...keep the young guys- continue to enjoy watching them develop. Maybe LaF and Kakko are future stars in the NHL...maybe not. I'm willing to wait and see. But how to upgrade this team to really compete for the Cup this year? 1. Find a way to keep guys healthy; 2. Figure out the funk Trouba and Miller are in; 3. Find a complimentary player for Chytil on 3rd line (so far Krav not it)- this should be a relatively inexpensive addition.
