**** take. Backlund is a pure shutdown center and one of the best in the league. You are acting like him centering the 3rd line means he will be matched up against other teams depth lines. In reality his role is to shutdown the oppositions best players so that the top lines can face their depth. Backlund is well worth what he is paid to do

Think about this. They could literally just sign someone that is really good defensively in free agency for cheaper.

The Flames just spent years trying to sort out their C depth, they finally have everyone slotted properly and taken the weight of putting up points off Backlund's shoulders. He can play the shut down game that he's so good at. No chance they move him. Similar to Tanev, he's worth way more to the Flames than they'd ever get in a trade for him.

Why trade Tarasenko and get an older player back. If we are trading both Tarasenko and ROR we will be rebuilding. No need for an older player. Picks and prospects will be what we are looking for
