    I guess just sucks. OEL is our 3rd best defenseman (not saying much I know) so retaining for 5 years plus adding 2 picks plus getting 0 back in return really stings even if it’s fair

    He's playing on a bad team with zero structure. He will find his game in a better system. Talented players can recover their past form. Look at Karlsson in San Jose this year. And if it goes disastrously bad then the Leafs can buy him out.

    Canucks keep their 1sts, which is a big win for them as they look to retool on the fly. This is purely a cap dump like San Jose trading Burns to Carolina.

    Can't say it's terrible, but not satisfied with retaining for 5 years AND giving up two seconds. We already blew one when dumping Dickinson; a move I now regret. Also, we'd want something back.

    OEL was once an ELITE top of the line d man in the NHL. Unfortunately, it isn't 2015 anymore. Had a bit of a revival last season but so far has looked not good this season
