If the Canadiens were ever to move Anderson however, it would take a haul for Hughes, who has refused offers in the past that have included 1st round picks. You would have to think that Hughes would ask for Jakob Pelletier or Matthew Coronato and the Flames’ 1st round pick in 2023 as a starter

I recommend you read the article

I dont think you actually read the article. its based on this guys thoughts on a trade value based on the idea of another persons thoughts on maybe there is interest.
this is basically a capfreindly proposal posted as an article.
there is 0 insider information about this. its all fan talk

You continually suggest that it`s old stuff. In this Article if you read it correctly says:

The Flames have had some calls in the last month, with one NHL source confirming the Montreal Canadiens have been one of those teams; but, as of yet, nothing has materialized.

In the last month, we are not talking about last August. To inquire means there is interest in the player. You may not like him but you are not the GM of the Flames; Treliving is and if he pays the price Anderson will become a Flame

you realize that teams call eachother constantly to talk about players available, costs etc, that is the work of a GM and his team, to understand the market. Reporting that a team called another team is just reporting a team is doing their job. Teams call about players even when they arent looking for trades.

Yes of course. In the end if there is a deal to happen here; the price Hughes wants for Anderson is most likely not the price that Treliving will pay provided that talks get serious at some point.

Tough to recommend and article written on Montreal Hockey Now, by a Habs fan, for Habs fans, with the intention of engaging Habs fans and getting them excited and talking about the article... In no way does it represent the landscape of the league. More an opinion piece that a referenceable article.

I read the "article" which is on Montreal Hockey now. Valji only says that they have had interest in the past, with past being the operative term. They are also basing this on a tweet, not an article he wrote. Regardless of the authors views, the numbers still don't make sense. A first rounder and a blue chip prospect for a guy who has never cracked 50pts and is 28 years old, on a 5.5 by 5 MM deal? Who is paying a "haul" for an overpaid winger?

Also, who is Calgary dumping next year to make space for him? Lucic's AAV comes off the books next year and has to go to Huberdeau's extension. When you include weegar Calgary only has 1.2MM in Cap next season with 3 players to sign. Even if Bettman is right and the cap goes up 3-4 MM, they still have to sign or recall 3 ELC players at any given time.

they can be asking about montreal players just to go know what their costs on so the flames can go talk to another team to use a value barameter on some other guys
Literally nothing tweeted, in that article points to any instance of anything between the flames and anderson. You are trying to make something out of nothing

Lucic for Anderson

But not Coronato for Rem.

Just take the latter two out. Habs clear a ton of cap space without paying anything for it.
