    Usually negotiating rights for a ufa is like a 5th round pick

    They are not trading Carlo for UFA rights to anyone. Mid to late round pick is the going rate.

    He has been since he came into the league as a teenager. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Lack of offense will limit him to a #4 role though.

    A sign and trade Bo Horvat, Is going to cost more than just Brandon Carlo. You need to add other pieces like picks/prospects.

    Not sure what the Carlo trade goal is - I'm assuming since you have Horvat signed to an 8 year deal, you're trying to sign-and-trade - which would require something else going to Vancouver.

    As I have been rightly corrected in the past (I think actually by @Gofnut999, in fact), Boston would have to have Horvat's rights prior to the trade deadline this year to make an 8 year offer. They can't trade for his rights at the draft and then offer him 8 - only Vancouver would have that option at that time.

    Sheesh. Negotiating rights for a UFA don’t go for that. Maybe a 3rd round pick on the high end.

    Looks like he's just trading for negotiating rights, similar to what happened with Kevin Hayes, shouldn't cost more than a 5th or 6th round pick

    No way you traded Carlo for ufa rights LMAO. You can just wait till FA and get Horvat for free, or if you REALLY want him, just trade a mid pick for his rights.

    Also, BOS will have 5.5mil in dead cap because of Bergy & Krech's bonus' so you need to factor that against the cap too.

    In my opinion, BOS just can't compete against other bidders for Horvat. Or any other impactful 1C either.
