That powerplay 1 is nuts. That's too much to pay for a rental

my logic behind the trade is that your team is not a playoff team and you guys need young prospects/players. jones has offensive top 4 upside like what klingberg is but on the left side. your right side on d is better than left so it meets a need. also the 2nd is thrown in to help elevate the value. from what i see, value is close

Ever heard of Olen Zellweger or Pavel Mintyukov? We are set there so Jones doesn’t push the needle imo

jones has higher value than both those players from all i could find. with all respect to zellweger, his upside is equivalent to jones but mintyukov is below that. it is 2 fans of different franchises trying to make a trade about prospects so we will never be fully accurate. i dont mean any disrespect

I understand and I wasn’t trying to be condescending with the ever heard of em

Zellweger and Mintyukov both have legit top 4 potential and with my boy Cam Fowler under contract for multiple years as well makes Jones no make sense unless we turn and flip him

i wasnt calling you condescending, no worries. cam fowler is great and i wish we took him over mclirrath years ago. if both of those guys ban out, then all is well. value might be there but the need for the trade isnt

he has an injury but is playing through it. if he "cannot" play then he has to sit for at least 10 nhl games or 24 days. do this after the tdl for the remained of the season

If hes cleared medically you cant just let him sit there on LTIR, you have to activate a player once healthy. The NHL reviews the medical records...rest for a naggigng issue isnt LTIR worthy

You cant cheat LTIR despite what people think or claim bc they didnt like how the lightning timed it out.

I think you are under rating Mintyukov a fair bit but that's not super important. The fact that we can sit here and have a serious debate about which of the three prospects is best and there isn't any clear cut answer probably means the kids are close enough that it doesn't matter. The bottom line is it's really hard to make a case that the Ducks need to acquire another LHD to add to the list of those that they already have.

Rangers have more than couple forwards that are super interesting. Cuylle for one.

We appreciate you opened with you top LD prospect, but as mentioned, we do have several rounds in the chamber for offensive LD, and we are of the opinion that both Mintyukov and Zellwegger are better prospects. We still have one of the top 5 prospect systems in the league after graduating Zegras, Drysdale, and McTavish.

You would also be hard pressed to convince someone that Jones is a "first round piece" at present, which is what we are expecting for Klingberg with 50% retention. I personally think the team needs a left shot power forward with top line potential, if you have one of those bouncing around in your system, or a young roster player who is going to price themselves off the team next season that fits the bill, that would be something of interest to us.

Yeah that was beautiful timing but fell exactly in the recovery timeline of Point and Gourde. Both of whom had the same surgery by the same surgeon the 2 previous off seasons.

never had an issue with the lighting using the surgery timelines to their advantage. They used the system that was in place for them, simple as that.
I just cant stand other fan baes claiming they cheated bc 18m over the cap. There is no conspiracy, they played by the rules in front of them and 31 other teams could have done the same thing.

I think Verbeek saw an opportunity with Klingberg. Sign him to a 1 year deal which works for the player. Acquire a first round pick (plus more see the Ben Chiarot Florida trade at last season's trade deadline). There's always a risk of injury though. I can remember when Red Wings fans thought Holland would get a 1st for Mike Green. He got injured a couple weeks before the trade deadline. They ended up trading him a year later for much less.

if he was legit injured and required surgery etc, yeah this works,
but based on the description of just rest. That will get rejected by the NHLs medical review pretty quickly

I suspect he is gone in January, not March. Without Drysdale in the lineup to mentor, there's no reason to hang onto him as long as possible.
