Murphy isn't as good as people think. The guy shouldn't make 4+ million. He's a bottom 4 defender being paid like he's more. He's not, he's just big.

Yeah, that's an overpay.

Yeah, it would help the Leafs this year...somewhat. Leafs have three NHLer that play the right side now. Brodie, Holl and Liljgren and Benn has worked his way in to make a fourth.
But it's giving up the picks and Villeneuve and taking on 4.4m in cap in 23/24 for three seasons that maybe isn't good value for the Leafs.
Keep the young assets and spend 4.4m better next season.

This is what happens when you don't watch a player night in and night out; you come up with bad assessments.
