With Rielly on LTIR

Created by: tsyls
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 22, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Seravalli proposed this deal and both fan bases hated it. I think it makes more sense now with rielly out. Heinola needs an opportunity to play and be used on the PP. He’s not going to get that in Winnipeg. Picks can be added to balance but I doubt there’s going to be any sort of agreement on this one lol. Heinola is waivers exempt so can be sent to the AHL when rielly returns unless he’s solidified a spot.

Brenden Dillon could be another option but as a jets fan I wouldn’t want to see him traded. One of the only players on this team who will stick up for any teammate at any time and that type of grit is needed.

Leafs are getting to the Habs level of last season with their injuries, not at a great time either since they want to contend.

Yeah it’s awful to see all of their injuries. I figured they might want to pick up a waivers exempt dman who can step in and play now and play a role on the PP without giving up anyone on their roster that’s actively playing in every game. Has Robertson been scratched the last few??

With Rielly out, that just gives Liljegren or Sandin the opportunity to take his spot on the PP, possibly Giordano. If they trade Robertson for a D it should be for someone who can take on the bulk of Rielly's minutes. Dillon could be an option but his large cap hit can be a challenge when it come to reactivating Rielly.

Robertson has been scratched last 4 games.

Yeah see that’s what I figured. That Lilly or sandin would jump onto the PP. Personally I think Heinola would be a better PP option than Liljegren snd maybe sandin. Agree that maybe they’d target a different D with Robertson. Just thought since they’re winning games and he’s been scratched they could make this deal without really affecting the active roster much.

Hopefully he sticks cause sitting in the PB isn’t going to help much. He’s in a very similar situation to Heinola.

Liljegren should be getting top PP minutes now. Someone who is finally willing to wind up for a slap shot instead of a soft wrister into the defenders shin guards.

The Big Difference Is Robby deserves to play over guys like Kerfoot but Keefe just doesn’t like young guys

I would hope Chevy keeps Heinola or targets a better player if he moves him. Robertson doesn't do much for the Jets.

Yeah that sounds exactly like the Heinola situation. They’re playing Kyle Capobianco over him lol.

Robertson helps a lot. Jets need top 6 talent and Robertson is young and has the potential to play in the top 6. Heinola is never going to get a chance in Winnipeg. The only other package I’d like to see Heinola in is for Horvat.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned Liljegren first and even think Giordano can be an option. Right now it's a great opportunity for Sandin to step up, so perhaps he does and gets rewarded with that prime PP time. Liljegren probably ends up on the PK so might not be a lock for PP1.

I don't see it. He's a healthy scratch constantly on a team with no forward depth and is tiny. Heinola has a way better pedigree and a lot higher upside. It would pretty disappointing if the Jets decide to move Heinola of that is all that is coming back.

It's way harder to find NHL defenseman than tweener left shot wingers.
