TOR - LAK trade:
Alexander Kerfoot has shown he can be good even though he hasn't been great offensively this year but has been okay defensively. Like everyone knows, the kings are absolutely stacked on the defensive end and likely wanting to move on from Matt Roy. A change of scenery is likely good for Kerfoot and the Leafs need immediate help on defence. The pick from the leafs is a incentive but I feel as this trade isn't entirely realistic but can be the foundation for one IMO.

TOR - OTT:
Justin Hold is Justin Hold, nothing else needs to be said. The pick is a incentive to take that AHL level bum as Ottawa's defence is a bit in shambles currently too. I am very high on Mathieu Joseph as I believe he is a hardworking, solid all around, jack of all trades kind of guy. I was disappointed when he was traded from Tampa for Nick Paul. Very high on him simply and feel he can do well with the bottom 6 high forechecking system.

TOR - CBJ:
This trade may be unrealistic but Pierre Engvall has been VERY questionable on offence this year but he hasn't been horrible in his past seasons with the Leafs. The pick is just a incentive to take Engvall in the trade as he isn't THAT bad as some make him out to be. I believe Oliver would fit in with the hard working bottom 6, criticize me for being unrealistic with this one but Leafs get a solid guy and Columbus gets a bottom 6 guy who has potential to play the third line.

Welcome (back?) to CapFriendly.

Los Angeles has 13 forwards on the main roster now, plus Iafallo and Lemieux on the IR lists, plus Byfield and Turcotte marinating in Ontario, so Kerfoot is of absolutely no interest to us. Moreover, we wouldn't even CONSIDER trading Matt Roy unless it was to fill our position of need, which is LhD, which you guys don't really have. (Sandin doesn't have quite enough experience for us.)

Justin Holl is bad but he is a AHL / NHL ish defence man who can play 20 minutes (shouldn't) for a team who is missing Chabot, their main defence man. Their rough start may make them think about tanking (debatable) which makes Holl an even more perfect fit. Not all of Ottawa's defence are NHL calibre truly yet. Holl has NHL game experience too which might help Ottawa do better even though he isn't the best. I meant this to be a rough ish foundation for a trade of players. The pick is meant to be a incentive to do the trade for Ottawa too. Ottawa also has many good players within their system like Grieg, Sokolov, Boucher, & Ostapchuk who look almost NHL bound. Ottawa's bottom six is very competitive and will be even more in the future with their prospect pool. If Ottawa decides to tank for Bedard too, they could get good value out of Joseph as he is a solid 3rd liner. This is just meant to be a rough foundation for a trade between the two teams.

You're underestimating how good Mathieu Joseph is. He's a very good player which is probably why you want him. The Sens need to improve their D but they're not trading Joseph to do it. The Leafs aren't the ONLY team trying to improve. The Sens are too and this makes absolutely no SENSe for them.

Also Joseph is under contract for 4 years. Holl is a rental. This fact alone makes the trade unrealistic.

The kings are one of those teams who don't have too many holes in their roster except some being young and not fully ready. I felt as Kerfoot would be a valuable to the middle six even though it's tight due to his defence and penalty kill ability. He has shown to be good on offence even though his current rough start to the season. I just was trying to make a trade which would benefit both teams as the kings are lacking on PK with them being ranked 25th with a 74.3 PK percentage and the leafs would gain a defence man to help their current mess.

Also, Joseph current pay is 3 million if you rounded and he has 1 goal and 4 points in 18 games played. If you did the math, that is 750k per point which isn't all that great. Correct me if wrong but he is on pace for 18 points. For reference, he played 69 games last season and had 30 points which is almost a 0.5 PPG. He has history of being a good player but currently isn't doing all that hot on offence stats wise. You also pointed out the elephant in the room by saying Toronto isn't the only team wanting to improve.

You conveniently ignored the contract situation of both players. Why would any NHL GM trade 4 years of Joseph for 1 year of Holl? If Joseph played for the Leafs and Holl played for the Sens there's no way you'd make this trade.

Ottawa needs defence which the Leafs have a lot of contracts of defence men. Ottawa has a lot of good bottom 6 players which Toronto could use (Joseph) hence why I thought this trade could be used as a foundation of a trade, I believe I stated in the original post I was using these trades as rough building blocks for ideas which could work.

I don't see any reason for the Jackets to do that. Engvall isn't of interest here, and Olivier is working out very nicely on our fourth line.
