We need Debrincat's extension cap space for defencemen. He doesn't fit longterm and we won't get the same return from we paid for him. Thomson and Daoust are not high end prospects despite what Sens fans want to believe.

Savard is an upgrade on Hamonic but is also 32 y/o and has 2 more years at 3.5 AAV

Edmundson is not even a need at LD with Chabot and Sanderson. He has one more year at 3.5 AAV

Fixing the defense is going to be a project that could take 2 to 4 years, so they might as well get the forward core locked, and work on the defense as the cap rises. Savard, Murphy and Edmundson aren't it. They should be looking to add 1 or 2 vets (one of them a bottom pairing guy) and maybe a guy around Chabot's age (Zub is close enough if they can extend him).
