Eh, I don’t think the value is crazy, just don’t think Buffalo should be in the Chychrun sweepstakes, especially trading a future first before they’ve shown they’re a playoff team in a tough af division.

I’ll keep saying it, bc no one has had an answer- not a good one anyways

How are we gonna pay Dahlin & Power & be able to give Chychrun a new contract?
It would be nuts to devote all that Cap space to defense

And it would be dumb to trade assets for Chychrun & then turn around & have to flip him in a year or so

Just find another “Samuelsson” to play with Power
Then we’d have our top2 pairs all set & playing 45min or more each night
So we’d just need a 3rd pair that won’t kill us for 10-15min a night

We don’t need Chychrun
Just doesn’t make sense

We don't even know what his new contract will be, and Power can sign the bridge like Dahlin, and the cap will constantly grow. Find a new Samuelsson? If it were that easy, no one trades such players. Come on, go find it. Chychrun is at least available now, are there any other defenders available? Adams said he's constantly looking to improve his roster and talks to all the GMs in the league, but apparently no one is trading the top 4 D. We cannot find solid goalie and a good top 4 D for the third year.

Lot better options for BUF at that price than Chychrun, who is a nice player but is severely overrated on CF because he what had a 18 goal season when he played half his games against ANA, LAK, and SJS, the season that made some guys like Grubauer a lot of money but didn’t exactly translate. He also has an issue staying healthy. BUF is building something really nice but I wouldn’t be trading roster players and 1st rd draft picks for guys just yet.

I don't think he has tried much, Jesus Timmons was just given away for nothing basically. Yes injuries have hurt his career so far. But he was thought to be a lock in Colorado's top4 and he's only 23. Low risk, High reward move.

Timmins is not a top 4 defenseman, he is almost always injured. I was talking about a legit top 4 D right now, who will come in and play consistently and well for 20+ minutes in the second pair with Power. These are hard to come by and usually not available.

I wasn't talking about him coming in and taking a top4 right away. I was talking about even building depth, he hasn't even tried that. And I said the injuries have hurt him, but he was thought as a Top 4 before they happened, it was a low risk move, that if he's finally past his injuries and young enough it could have turned into something. It's not always the big move that can turn into something that helps your team. And in no way would that have hindered Adams from making a bigger move.

Well, for some reason, he did not want to add such a player. He could also trade 5th for Bear when we had Samuelsson, Jokiharju and Lyubushkin injured. I don't know what Adams' plan is, but we need a top 4 D and good defensive depth. Possibly LD in the third pair.

I agree, I really don't know what his plan is. Cause this years draft isn't exactly loaded with top end D prospects.

Another Samuelsson? That would be a neat trick. How many of you would trade him now? So what team is going to trade his clone to Buffalo?
How about drafting Tristan Luneau instead of Topias Leinonen (another GK prospect)?
It is too early to be trading away future assets for roster players.
Chychrun could be a good target if he was right handed, Buffalo's problem is stopping goals not scoring them.
My target would be Luke Schenn, but he may be an expensive older option, who would most likely walk at the end of the season.
Strålman may add veteran leadership and he would be free even if he is no better than Fitzgerald, Bryson or Pilut.

EDIT: Bear would have been a good option as well, young, cheap and right handed.

It's like Adams isn't willing to try anything. It's like he's put a blockade around the Sabres and this is what you get. Drafting and developing is a good thing for the Organization, but you haven't drafted any D, there isn't anything coming and this draft isn't exactly the draft to put your Defensive hopes in. Sabres are having problems evaluating the players they have right now. They have a lot of forward prospects coming, the way they are going they won't evaluate half of them. It's time to start using your Organizational strengths to fill out your weaknesses.

Or Warren instead Leinonen, but in general i like Adams drafts, although he could have picked a few more RDs instead of forwards.

I don't care if Chychrun is right handed or left handed, what matters is that he is a legit top 4 D. He is average defensively but that's ok, he's quite big, can push in the crease (I watched Wild vs Arizona two days ago, he's even on equal footing there pushing with Reaves). Power can also play RD well if needed. At Granato, the defenders are constantly changing places during the game, so I don’t see any problems with the fact that Chychrun will play in tandem with Power. I just wouldn't pay too much for Chychrun just because of his injury history, but he's a quality player in his prime.

Finding a second Samuelsson, especially on the taxiway, is very difficult.
