That's an insane overpay for Ghost, a guy who's not really needed - most of his value comes from being an offensive D & PP QB - which we already have in Noah Dobson. Just a lot to give up for a guy whose main skill isn't really going to be used on this team.

Kane deal is probably a little heavy, too - he's got an NMC so he's going to control his destination, which might lessen the return he'd get if there was a bidding war (see: Giroux, Claude.) I could see a 1st/2nd/prospect being the ask, but throwing in another NHL-ready prospect in Salo feels like overkill and realllly empties the cupboards to a concerning degree. This team is gonna be in a rough spot 2-3 years down the line - no draft picks, and your best prospects would be William Dufour, Simon Holmstrom, and Calle Odelius, with minimal draft capital left to restock the pipeline.

Don't pay that much for Ghost, sub Raty with Iskhakov in the CHI deal. Pick up a lesser LD for depth

Both of these trades don’t make the isles cup contenders, and it removes any flexibility in the future. The isles can’t afford to give up Raty for players over 30.

To me, Kane is a "if the price is right" type of player - if they manage to get him with a '24 1st and without losing Raty, I'd be happy with the deal. But I also think that if there are multiple teams involved, that offer would get beat and then the price is too rich for me.

Ghost is a total non-starter for me, though. Love the player, but he's redundant on a team with Noah Dobson and not worth much of anything. If we're adding D I'd rather target a depth guy you can get for a mid round pick (your Justin Brauns of the world, so to speak.)

The isles are better off going for Kuzmenko or Meier. You can tell most nights the isles are being outplayed and Sorokin is bailing them out. The isles don’t need another old player who can’t push play in the right direction. Kane is only good on the powerplay.
