Spence was a 1st team All-Star in the AHL last season as a rookie and didn't look out of place in his stint in the NHL. Both of the guys you propose to send for him haven't played a single professional hockey game.

Kings decline.

Just because they haven't played a single game in the NHL doesn't mean they're bad prospects. Johnson is a solid first-round LD prospect who is good on defense and transitions, plus he is from California. Portillo is a decent goalie prospect and LA goaltenders don't seem to be looking very good and don't look like they have a new Quick in the pipeline. Also, the LA seems to have a congestion on right side and there is not enough place for everyone.

Johnson is a very solid defenseman. And he is one of those Defenseman that can play both sides at a high level,

Like the idea Fjordy, LA and Buffalo could make good trade partners.

While I like Portillo, I'm not that interested in Johnson.

I'm also not interested in either while they are still unsigned and can just walk after college. Certainly not at the cost of Spence.

Yes, but then they can go to any other team. That makes sense that LA would talk to them about signing before the trade, like Arizona did recently with McBain and Wild got a 2nd for him. What is the cost of Spence or your other RD besides Walker?

That doesn't mean that they're going to give away a top quality proven RHD for two guys that may never be NHL players. Spence has been the best defenseman in the league everywhere he has played.

But it also doesn’t exclude anything, this site was made for this, to offer various options, who like it, and who don’t. Also, I don't buy the answer that they haven't played in the league yet, there are plenty of prospects who haven't played in the NHL yet, but that doesn't affect their value in any way.

Understand that, RD is a strength in your Organization, Grans might do to. But there is family connection there to. His Dad was there for awhile and just left.

It doesn't mean they're write-offs, but it definitely affects their value.

2 years ago, Alex Turcotte for K'Andre Miller was a pretty even valued swap. 2 years later, Turcotte is still in the AHL, while Miller has become a quality defenseman for the Rangers. Do you think New York would still consider Turcotte for Miller 1-for-1?

It's not just that Spence has played professional hockey games, but rather that he was the single best defenseman in the entire AHL as a rookie. There's a difference.

Miller has been playing well in the top 4 for several years. Still, Spence has so far played much less games in the NHL. I realized that for you it is very valuable and apparently it makes no sense to trade for him. But we need RD, and you have too many of them, maybe a deal for someone else from your RD (not Walker).

The Kings would potentially swap Durzi for someone like Samuelsson, but they're not in the market for guys that aren't NHL ready. They need help now, not several years from now when guys like Johnson and Portillo could potentially be NHL ready.

Samuelsson is about as untouchable as you can get. He's our MVP.

I don't disagree, but unless they're willing to give up Power instead, there's nothing that Buffalo has that the Kings would want. UPL maybe?

Power is a definite no go. UPL is a no go as well. He's our only hope at G right now. BUF needs D and a G. We're not in any position to give them up. We've got Fs and draft picks to offer.

It seems you guys are overestimating their players and their value. Durzi won't even come close to Samuelsson's cost. Good luck.

I'm not saying that it would be a 1-for-1 swap or that Buffalo would be interested in such a trade. I'm saying that if Buffalo is interested in a RHD from the Kings, they have to be prepared to give up something the Kings would be interested in. They need an NHL-ready LHD that can step in at the 2LD role immediately. The only thing that qualifies is Samuelsson or Power.

With recent developments, the Kings need an inexpensive NHL ready goaltender as well, hence the potential interest in UPL.

Short of that, there's nothing the Sabres have that would interest the Kings.

The Kings have no need for forwards or draft picks at this point, so there's probably not a trade to be made here.

You know, players often just trade for picks.
