Why would Vancouver want to exchange a middle-6 NHL forward who's signed for three more seasons for two rentals and a prospect who won't be ready until 2024 at the earliest?

Vancouver declines, Two pending UFAs and a prospect doesn't get you 3 years of Garland.

the only reason I would consider this would be for the cap but I would want another prospect or a pick in there to make it work, maybe add in a 2nd and we're closer

Any idea Leaf fans are trading for Garland in the 1st place and getting rid of Engvall? Garland is 5'8" and is owed almost $5 MIL a year for 3 goals with 4 hits and lots of potential whereas Engvall is 6'5" and signed for less than half of that for 3 goals which people are ripping him for. Is Garland a steal? He seems a bit overhyped here. I don't get the love...

Garland played his Major Junoir here and I have followed him ever since so I appreciate his heart but when the going gets tough in the NHL playoffs Garland, Malgin, Robertson and all the other 5'8" players get steamrolled.

Ah, yes, the Twittersphere. I don't view any of these people as informed or intelligent, let alone authoritative. I'm the sort of old fogey who gets his shingles, flu and Covid shots and stays away from crypto.

Thats just not a good package for us to retain half on TK (Makes even less sense to give up all of that to run him 3rd line)
